You would think a word as simple as slice would have only one translation. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The noun SLICE in Spanish has seemingly countless translations, each one is specific to whatever you are slicing. Here are a few of the more common translations:
1. Trozo
Used for slices of cake or pies. In some countries you will hear trozo when you are meant to chop up a vegetable in larger slices.
2. Pedazo
This word also means piece, so it can be used as a generic term for slice for things like cakes or sometimes pizza
3. Porción or Ración
Used for slices of pizza, pie, or tarts
4. Rebanada
Used for slices of bread and occasionally cheese
5. Feta
Used for slices of cheese or deli meats
6. Loncha
Used for slices of deli meats
7. Rodaja
Used for slices of some fruits or vegetables such as lemons or cucumbers.
8. Tajada
Used for slices of carne asada (grilled meat)
